OLIRS Vitamin C Glow Serum — top serums and oils for men

Top-Performing Serums and Oils for Modern Men

Serums and facial oils are where a basic wash-and-moisturise routine becomes a targeted one. They're also where most of the confusion lives: what's the difference, which do you need, and when does each go on? This guide answers all three, then walks through the formulas we'd point a modern man to first.

Serum vs oil: the two-minute version

Serums are concentrated, mostly water-based formulas built to deliver specific ingredients — vitamin C, peptides, hyaluronic acid, AHAs. They go on right after cleansing, before anything richer.

Facial oils are blends of botanical oils that soften, nourish and seal. They shine as the last step of an evening routine, or mixed into a moisturiser when skin feels dry. Modern oils — jojoba, rosehip, berry seed — absorb cleanly; the greasy-film era is over.

Most routines have room for one serum in the morning, and a serum or oil at night.

The morning serums

For a brighter-looking complexion: Vitamin C

The default morning serum. Stabilised vitamin C with ferulic acid and vitamin E supports a brighter-looking, more even-looking complexion with cosmetic antioxidant support for the day. Our Vitamin C Glow Serum adds sea buckthorn, rosehip and jojoba so skin feels nourished, not tacky.

For uneven-looking tone: Vitamin C + humectants

The Even-Tone Glow Serum takes the same brightening-focused core and pairs it with hyaluronic acid and sodium PCA — the pick when uneven-looking tone and dehydration show up together.

For the look of firmness: Peptides

The Peptide Firm-Look Serum combines peptides with two molecular weights of hyaluronic acid to support the appearance of firmness and smoother-looking skin. Gentle enough for daily use, and it layers under any moisturiser.

For pure hydration: Hyaluronic gel

Not technically a serum, but it plays the same slot: the Double Hydration Boost Gel delivers multi-molecular hyaluronic acid and sodium PCA in a fresh gel — the foundation layer every skin type can use.

The evening formulas

For smoother-looking texture: Bakuchiol

Bakuchiol is the plant-derived evening ingredient of the decade — it supports the appearance of smoother texture and fine lines with a gentle profile. The Bakuchiol Night Oil Serum delivers it in seven botanical oils; the Advanced Night Renewal Serum offers the same thinking in a lighter lotion texture.

For weekly resurfacing-feel: AHA

Once or twice a week, the Overnight AHA Exfoliating Serum uses lactic acid to lift dead surface cells while hyaluronic acid keeps skin comfortable — smoother-looking texture by morning. SPF the next day, always.

The facial oils

The all-rounder

The All-In-One Facial Oil — six oils plus vitamin E, from jojoba to sea buckthorn — adds a radiant-looking finish without greasy weight. A few drops solo, or one drop mixed into your day cream in winter.

The deep conditioner

For dry-feeling or mature-looking skin, the eleven-oil Nourishing Facial Oil leans richer — cloudberry, borage and evening primrose for a soft, nourished-looking finish.

Below the neck

The same logic works body-wide: the Omega 6-9 Glowing Skin Body Oil locks in moisture after a shower with argan, rosehip and sweet almond.

How to layer them

  1. AM: cleanse → vitamin C or peptide serum → hydration gel or day cream → SPF.
  2. PM: cleanse → bakuchiol serum or AHA (1–2×/week) → facial oil or night moisturiser.
  3. Rule of thumb: one active per slot; thinnest texture first; oil always last.
